Exploring: Assateague

One of those places that ticks so many boxes: beach, bay, and marsh; national park stamps and ranger programs; ease of local campground accommodations, close to home, birding and crabbing, interesting wild animal (horse!). Let this mark the day, the trip, the time that both Townes and Bess abandoned themselves to the ocean. They fearlessly let wild waves wash over their heads, drag them to shore, and then jumped back in and did it again. Our farewell to summer was sandy, hot, and buggy. Though just a weekend trip, the confusing busy-yet-slow pace of our travels didn’t shift. The comfort and ease in these spaces (small home, big backyard) didn’t shift. Comfort on the road, in the water, under the sun remained.
