We darted around the state hitting an array of driveway types – residential to farmland, but the sentiment of being with friends didn’t change. From Newport News to Williamsburg/Jamestown/Yorktown (the highlight was a snake eating a frog) to Richmond to Front Royal to Charlottesville, the kids made new friends while we enjoyed their parents and the sweet years of friendship. And we felt deeply grateful for shared meals, shared parenting tips, and the incredible places to rest our bones.
All while humming Hamilton lyrics from Yorktown to Monticello.
- We stayed: more driveways, thank you god, for more driveways.
- We explored: The Virginia Living Museum and Fort Monroe National Monument and beach in Newport News, Jamestown Settlement, Colonial Williamsburg, Monument Avenue in Richmond, Shenandoah National Park (more here), Monticello
- We drank: Oozelfinch Brewery in Newport News, Blanchard’s Coffee in Richmond, Potter’s Craft Cider in Charlottesville, Three Notch’d Brewing in Charlottesville
