What is it about nature – how is every element of it, from forest fires to wind to seasons to habits — so powerful, so calamitous yet calming, so steady? I want to be in lock-step with it. Breathing the gusts, sleeping the dark, changing my leaves when it’s time to, nourishing and being nourished. I want to trust cycles. I want to not be at the center, but be a part of a greater environment of being.

“I only went out for a walk and finally concluded to stay out till sundown, for going out, I found, was really going in.” — John Muir
