This has become one of my favorite times of day, rituals, and way of life: dinner prep. Sun is going down, things are cooling off, we are all outside, kids preoccupied with legos or riding bikes or climbing trees while me and joe prep fire and food. Tonight we saw a snake while the kids were looking for kindling. Corn nuts is our new favorite accompaniment. And a local beer. We aren’t rushed post kid-activity or pre-bedtime. The pace is slow. We are in nature. We are together. We are messy. We are present. We have nowhere to be.
